Andrea Polcri was born in Florence in 1962 and from an early age showed a strong passion for cars and spaceships, the main subjects of his drawings. He attended the Art School of Florence and once finished he began his journey in the world of graphic arts, which he would explore and expand over the years, touching on the most diverse sectors, from screen printing to digital printing, passing through the manual and digital creation of ideas and designs for porcelain and fabrics. Today his works summarize his path and his passions, in the continuous search for an ever new expressiveness. In the last year, the production of design objects linked to artistic production and the world of motorsport has also been added to the purely artistic activity. Furnishing objects with significant symbolic value both for the subject and for the materials used. Plates, carpets and scarves become a tangible expression of a timeless passion for the world of motors, speed and its protagonists. Title of the exhibition presented in Lugano: Lady & Gentlemen – Passion for race The project starts from the concept: “men and stories that make an object cool” based on an exhibition of automotive-themed works by the artist Andrea Polcri which trace the icons of this history. An exciting journey of pictorial works combined with as many memorabilia objects as their iconic helmets. A Porsche brand racing car is inevitable, with livery references to the theme of the exhibition. A tribute to the Swiss champion Jo Siffert, who together with James Redman and Steve McQueen made the famous Porche 117 with GULF livery famous, first meeting on the racing tracks and then creating from their passion, what we can define as “the cool movie – LE MANS” a film where every single object that appeared has over time become a symbol of class and sportsmanship. An object is nothing if it is not linked to its history and what it can tell every time you encounter it.
