Mieke Verbert, a Belgian-Italian artist, was born in La Spezia in 1979, and grew up in the Florentine countryside. She earned an M.A. in Ancient Hebrew Language and Literature from the Università di Firenze. After graduating, she worked in a tax assistance center.
In December 2017, she began her artistic craft activity L’Albero del Bradipo, because she increasingly felt the need to reconnect with a more profound and essential way of life.
Mieke’s works can be considered “narrative sculptures,” as they do not pull from abstract concepts. Rather, they are based on imagined stories written with papier-mâché, at the heart of which there is a fundamental vision of life that is living and reading the world through wonder and fantasy.
