FRANCESCA PETRARCA

Francesca Petrarca was born and grew up in Chiasso.

After several experiences abroad and in Basel, she settled in Stabio where she lives and works in her Atelier in Via Giulia.

She has always appreciated art in its many forms. However, the encounter with Alberto Giacometti’s works is decisive to get passionate about the world of sculpture, to which Francesca dedicates herself. Along the way, she discovers the power and beauty of an art that spurs you to channel your energies by giving concrete form to emotions.

Francesca’s career began in 2015. Her artistic training varies, in addition to the materials, also in different forms of expression, from glass fusion to plaster and acrylic painting. The continuous study allows her to develop an artistic language that finds its maximum intensity in the casting of bronze. She loves bronze because it is a strong and durable material. Sometimes, completed with fragile materials such as glass, it gives her the opportunity to freely express what she has inside.

“When I work, my breath slows down, my mind goes blank, and my hands move on their own. Sculpture for me is a need, a passion that I can no longer give up. Time stops and I feel free”.

Through her works she wants to express the strength of human bonds, the sense of family, love and understanding. Francesca offers a wide range of bronze sculptures, from commissioned works to one-of-a-kind pieces.

In the last years she has held group and solo exhibitions in Ticino.
