MARIA FRANCESCA BROGGINI

Aembrosia takes its name from the immortals’ drink ambrosia- adding an “e” to evoke the word embroidery.

The greek mythology describes the ambrosia as a golden drink, that makes a man immortal, elevating him equal to gods.

I have chosen this name inspired by John Keats’ vision of Beauty, told in the incipit of Endymion: he compares Beauty to ambrosia because it can elevate the soul, making it close to the invisible forces that created the universe, brightening the existence in dark times.

Aembrosia Luxury Embroidery aims to create fragments of beauty, using in a creative and contemporary way the most ancient and prestigious techniques of hand embroidery, using especially Goldwork and Haute Couture Embroidery.

If you don’t know these techniques, think about coronation robes of kings and queens, royal and sacred vestments: Goldwork embroidery has been used since middle ages to express the maximum magnificence, while Haute Couture Embroidery adorns the dresses of the most exclusives Red Carpets.

I rielaborate these precious and antique techniques of hand embroidery, making them personal and contemporary and adding a poetical touch.
