Gioielleria Mario Sessa

In the 1950s, specifically in 1955, Mario Sessa opened a jewelry and watch business. His dedication and expertise allowed him to expand the business with the addition of a workshop to pass on the culture and knowledge of craftsmanship to aspiring young people. In 1966, his wife Marisa joined the business, and in 1974, the shop expanded with the addition of a second floor. Mario Sessa was awarded the title of “expert in diamonds and precious stones.” In 1977, Mario Sessa passed away, and his children Fabrizio, 14, and Rossana joined the business. In 1994, Marisa passed away, and her children continued the business.

2007 was a pivotal year for Gioielleria Sessa (the founder’s name remained), and Fabrizio’s wife Daniela took over from her sister. The business was recognized by the City of Milan as a “Historical Shop.” In 2008, the Lombardy Region awarded it a further “Historical Shop.” In 2012, the Milan Chamber of Commerce awarded Gioielleria Mario Sessa the “Productive Milan” award.

In 2014, the traditional street shop closed, but it continued to operate at the most important events in the sector in Italy and Europe. Always seeking new ideas, Fabrizio carved out a niche for himself in contemporary art and modern antiques, acquiring the world’s largest collection of Neos Clocks designed by Nathalie Du Pasquier and George Sowden, designers and leading figures of the Memphis Milano group. Creations by Carlo Scarpa, Vico Magistretti, Cleto Munari, Richard Sapper, and Angelo Mangiarotti were also acquired.

Nathalie Du Pasquier is an artist and designer, best known for her work as a founding member of the Memphis Milano group. All his objects embody his colorful and exotic style, where vibrant colors blend with bold lines to create one-of-a-kind designs. George Snowden is a founding member of the Memphis Milano group. His trademark is the freedom of bold graphics and colors, breaking the rules of modernism. His iconic patterns are characterized by bold blacks, whites, shapes, and color-blocked lines.
