I was born in an artisan workshop in Pinerolo (TO) – Italy. It’s a historical commercial business founded by my family in 1961 in the shadow of the Alps. My father was a restorer and dealer of antique furniture. I grow up in a world made up by carpenters, sculptors, restorers and artists from alpine valleys, a reality that no longer exists but remains in my memories. I was born as a sculpture and, after years of experimentation, I founded MobiliStorti, a brand that has many souls. Inspired by the shapes and colors of the furniture of the classic Piedmontese Baroque, I created a more ironic and essential line of furniture, made of soft and sinuous shapes, which is able to dialogue with other types of design. The knowledge of various styles allows me to mix them. It all starts with a drawing. I try to understand the needs of the people I work with to recreate the desired atmosphere in their houses. The mountains and the woods have always fascinated me. Trees are extraordinary beings. Man has always tried to bring the concept of nature into intimate or community spaces. Since I was a child, I have tried to recreate the plant world with the wood material. For years my research failed until one day I started using the tools at my disposal in a different way. I learned to make the lines that I had been following all my life. These lines merge with the recovery and reuse of ancient materials. The current historical period ha led people to rethink the concept of home. My goal is to create exclusive spaces, where utility and beauty come together. I design the furniture, the lights, the shadows and the colors to make you like an unique experience. The journey continues with the “Carpenter Trees” project with the collaboration of the photographer Claudia Lo Stimolo and the model Delicate…. If you can imagine it, you can do it.MOBILI STORTI
