Manuela Juchli was born in Zurich in 1963. She lives ad work in Lugano, Switzerland. She qualified as an office clerk at a very young age, and in the evenings after work, she began her first artistic studies at a small local school. In her youth she experienced a vibrant and emotional period of travel, adventure, and inner exploration. This wealth of personal experiences remains with her and continues to enrich her current artistic work. During her time living in Italy in the firsrt 2000’s, she deepened her painting skills by reproducing works of the Old Masters. In 2010 she returned to Switzerland and began developing a more personal style emphasizing expressiveness and boldness. She eventually extended this liberated style to abstract landscapes as well. Today she continues to refine her technique through independent study and experimentation with a variety of media. In the artist’s words: “Art is my passion. I see it as a companion on my life journey, one with whom I share a deep connection that helps me better understand myself, reveal hidden aspects, confront my limits, and surrender to the unknown. I love expressing movement, vitality, and rhythm, both the energy I perceive around me and the pulse I feel within. I call this the dance of life. To me, movement is a universal language that conveys emotion and energy, and can be understood by everyone. I seek simplicity in relationships, in food, in contact with nature, and as a result, I strip away what I consider superfluous in my creations. I simplify, in a constant search for essence. When I create what primarily matters to me is to feel alive and while working I alternate moments of slowness and careful attention with others that are quick, instinctive, and unconscious. Sometimes I fall, but it is in this dynamic that I believe the magic of creation is born, letting then myself be amazed and surprised by a result that cannot be replicated, because every moment is unique and unrepeatable, just like the path of life itself”.
