Guido Angeletti

Born in Bologna on October 24, 1954, after training as a designer and maker of artistic jewelry, my passion for giving form to matter led me to earn a diploma in sculpture from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna. Each of my jewelry pieces and sculptural works begins with a drawing or a quick note that captures an often fleeting idea on paper. Although I have experimented with a wide range of materials (marble, iron, resins of all kinds, wood, sand, various types of ceramic, as well as precious metals as a goldsmith) and many techniques, today I focus on metal casting for the great fascination inherent in transmuting emotions and sensations into a solid and long-lasting material. My creative work is influenced by my experience as a goldsmith, with attention to detail and finishes that give my works an intense visual power and elegance. My technique is the result of decades of experience.

Sonia Sbolzani, art critic: says about him: “The works of the sculptor Guido Angeletti are an eloquent synthesis of the meaning of plastic power combined with the urgency of contemporaneity. In their apparent spontaneity and immediacy, these sculptures reveal a strong innovative spirit grafted onto a refined sensitivity, in an attempt to break through preconceived mental patterns to give new life to forms and thoughts. For Angeletti, it is not so much the material, however evolved, that makes an object modern, but rather its construction in space through new modalities, vital impulses, universal pulses. This is why his art attracts both the most open-minded and astute observer, intolerant of any rhetoric, and an audience accustomed to the conventionalities of taste. Indeed, Angeletti seeks original solutions, all the more so because in him, imagination is no less imperious than reason, nor less daring than the technical expertise of his hands”.
