CARLO MINELLI

From a young age, Carlo Minelli’s passion for art manifested itself through drawings and sketches, which allowed him to express his vision of the world. Raised in Davos (Switzerland), surrounded by an extraordinary natural landscape, he never struggled to find inspiration for his work. In 1974, he began an apprenticeship as a metalworker in the family business, an experience that proved crucial to his development. In that context, he had the opportunity to engage with traditional craftsmanship techniques, such as forging, which enriched his artistic vision. Over time, however, he felt the need to explore new materials and techniques. This led him to clay and, eventually, to sculpture, discovering a new expressive dimension. He started with small castings, then realized that larger works could also spark interest and deeply inspire him. This curiosity led him to the art foundry in Mendrisio, where he was able to create his first projects and sculptures.

Over the years, his works earned him significant commissions, including the creation of the La bella Donna sculpture in a winery in Castiglione Falletto, Italy, which marked a turning point in his career. Today, Carlo Minelli aspires for his art to be appreciated by an ever-wider audience and will showcase his works at YouNique 2025. «I believe that art – in the artist’s words – gains value precisely when people with different experiences and opinions engage in dialogue about what the works represent. It is only through dialogue, between criticism and appreciation, that an artist can truly grow and develop».
