Biljana Bakaluca is a Master of Fine Arts living and working in Germany, where she daily explores the boundaries of her art. Her artistic approach offers a compelling exploration of the relationship between individual experience and social influences. By adapting her artworks to both the environment and emotional states, she creates a dialogue between personal feelings and the broader context of social issues. This method of incorporating abstract elements allows viewers to connect on an emotional level, reflecting feelings of isolation or misunderstanding prevalent in modern life. The use of oversized or reduced symbols in her installations effectively emphasizes these themes, capturing the sharp contrasts of human experience. She experiments with various materials, particularly transitioning from simple to more complex ones like plexiglass and concrete, embracing imperfections and learning from them. She also explores collaborative projects or community-based installations to enhance the dialogue between art and social issues, highlighting collective experiences of belonging and alienation. Throughout her artistic career, Biljana Bakaluca has had the privilege of exhibiting her work in numerous solo and group exhibitions worldwide, including in Serbia, Italy, Germany, the United States, Mexico, Cuba, China, and Dubai. Notably, she participated in the Kaohsiung Art Container Festival in Taiwan, presenting the “Top Secret” project in 2001 and the “Paper Container” project in 2007. In 2014, her work titled “Spying” was acquired through a competitive selection process funded by the Vršac City Museum in Serbia. Similarly, in 2017, her piece “Identity” was purchased in a competition organized by the Ministry for the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad, Serbia. Over the course of her career, she has received various awards and recognitions for her artistic work.BILJANA BAKALUCA
