ALKETA DELISHAJ

Born in Albania and residing in Verona, Alketa Delishaj is a contemporary artist whose work is deeply rooted in historical memory, resilience, and the fight for gender equality. Through a distinctive blend of painting, photography, and visual storytelling, Alketa transforms her art into a powerful manifesto for inclusion and female empowerment, addressing universal themes that resonate profoundly in today’s world.

One of her most emblematic projects is Le Tuffatrici (The Divers), a series inspired by the first female Olympic divers of the 1920s, such as Jane Fauntz and Katherine Rawls. These trailblazers, examples of courage and determination, defied the cultural and social barriers of their time, marking a turning point in women’s aspirations. “The divers are not just athletes, but universal symbols of resilience and liberation.” In her works, diving becomes a heroic representation: a gesture of transcendence that breaks both physical and symbolic boundaries, celebrating women’s ability to overcome the most challenging societal constraints.

A key milestone in her career was her solo exhibition, Alkèta. Le Tuffatrici no. 04, presented in 2023 at Galleria Luar Bovisa in Milan. This exhibition explored the theme of female emancipation through works characterized by transparency, visual layering, and an intense figurative tension.

Also in 2023, Alketa participated in the Bastia Film Festival in Corsica, presenting a project that intertwines her visual language with the world of cinema. This event further confirmed the versatility of her artistic approach and her positioning on the international scene. The Le Tuffatrici project is part of a broader trajectory that defines Alketa’s entire artistic production: an art form that does not merely commemorate the past but invites the audience to reflect on the present and imagine a fairer future.
